EXPECT GREAT THINGS FROM GOD

Song: Verily, verily, verily, verily, verily I say unto you: you shall be great, you shall be lifted, it shall be well with you!

Joel 2:21-27 Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great things. Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength. Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil. And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.

This season expect great things from God because the mouth of the Lord has spoken it. YOU WILL NOT BE ASHAMED because God is not a man that He should lie. Shout “HALLELUIAH”!!! Beloved, to believe or not to believe depends on the person making the promise. The Almighty has promised that he will never fail. JUST BELIEVE GOD because He is great and has promised He’ll do great things. His desire is to make His children great in such a way that all eyes shall see us and see the glory of God on us and then we can boldly say “Come, taste and see that the Lord is good”. YOU WILL NOT BE PUT TO SHAME IN THE MIGHTY NAME OF JESUS! PEOPLE WILL NOT ASK YOU “WHERE IS YOUR GOD?” THAT WILLL NOT BE YOUR PORTION IN JESUS’ MIGHTY NAME!
Beloved, if God is going to do great things the heavens must open up to us. People must say concerning us that “This is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our sight” THIS YEAR, GOD WILL DO SOMETHING GREAT IN YOUR LIFE THAT WILL MAKE PEOPLE MARVEL!!!

In Genesis 24:35 when Abraham’s servant went on a journey in search of a wife for Isaac he told people that God had blessed his master greatly and had given him great wealth:

Genesis 24:35 And the LORD hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses.

In Genesis 26:12-14 the bible tells us Isaac sowed in the land where there was famine and in the same year received a hundredfold harvest and the Lord blessed him. Solomon was very great in such a way that there was no other like him. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. YOU WILL NOT DIE UNSUNG!!! Beloved, God can raise a person from the dunghill and set him among princes. Daddy G.O. Adeboye’s God is your God.

CONDITIONS FOR GREATNESS

WE MUST OBEY GOD: Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Beloved, God has destined us for good success BUT SIN AND DISOBEDIENCE HAS ALWAYS BEEN AN ISSUE!!! Obedience will make the heavens open unto you.
Psalm 1:1-3 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Abraham at ninety years obeyed God IMMEDIATELY and circumcised himself as God commanded. It must’ve been painful but he obeyed IMMEDIATELY. Many at times obedience is painful but joy comes afterwards. Abraham also obeyed God and sacrificed Isaac!

WE MUST NOT LIMIT GOD BY LACK OF FAITH: The bible tells us that the expectation of the righteous shall not be cut short. Believe God in your heart (Mk. 11:22-25). Have faith in God. The “god’s” of some culture have eyes but can’t see and have ears but can’t hear but OUR GOD IS THE GREAT AND MIGHTY! Hold on to the word of God even when the situation looks grim. Know that God is not a man that He should lie and that we serve a God that cannot lie. In 2 Kings 4, the widow whose husband left her in debt believed the God of Elisha and obeyed his instructions. It’s no wonder that she got her miracle. If she had gotten more vessels the oil would not have stayed. It was the amount of vessels she provided that limited her miracle. DO NOT LIMIT GOD!!! There was a woman that after attending a powerful service at the camp took the oil that Daddy G.O. prayed over and went to the hospital to see her daughter who had just delivered twins whom the doctors claim were all dead (both mother and babies). As this woman put this oil on them the daughter got up and both babies began to cry and they are all alive today!!!

Jeremiah 32:17 Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:

V27 Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?

Beloved, NOTHING IS TOO HARD FOR GOD!!! IF YOU HAVE BEEN A TENANT, YOU WILL SOON BECOMNE A LANDLORD!!! There was a messenger who received this prophecy at a powerful service and claimed it. Beloved, lo and behold on new year’s day as people were exchanging pleasantries a rich man gave this messenger the keys to a two-bedroom apartment as a gift!!! God says “My people will not be ashamed” God has destined each and every one of us for greatness. He says in Deuteronomy 28:13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them. Beloved, GOD IS A HEALER. Expect great things from God and Jehovah Rapha will heal you.

WE MUST BE PRAYERFUL: Jeremiah 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. Prayer will release your miracle from God. Praise God instead of allowing your mind to wonder. PRAY ALL THE TIME!!! “Thank you Jesus” is a prayer as so is “Lord, have mercy”. OCCUPY YOUR MIND WITH PRAYER AND PRAISE and you’ll see the hand of God in all your situations and circumstances. Psalm 104:1 Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.
Beloved, it is only a great God that can do great things. GIVE YOURSELF TO PRAYERS. You can eat too much but you can never pray too much. No man can be greater than his prayer life. If you desire to be great spiritually or circularly, PRAYER IS THE KEY!!! Hannah prayed. Elijah prayed. PRAYER WILL MAKE THE SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS TO RAIN UPON YOU!!! God says “I will give unto you the key of heaven and whatsoever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven” DON’T BE WEARY IN PRAYING!!! Daniel was a man of prayers. Even after they forbade prayers the bible tells us he still prayed which landed him in the den of lions but as God would have it, the lions could not touch him! Prayer changes things. Prayer turns barrenness to fruitfulness and sorrow to joy. Prayer unlocks heaven allowing blessings to come to you. Beloved, if you’re expecting great things from God, PRAY!!!
WE MUST PAY OUR TITHES AND OFFERING: By obeying this commandment God rebukes the devourer for our sakes. [See Malachi 3:10-12] Beloved, God always provides for those who provide meat for His house. IT IS A SPIRITUAL PRINCIPLE. The bible tells us that if we sow sparingly we will reap sparingly. The liberal soul shall be made fat (Prov. 11:25). Give and it shall be given unto you good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over SHALL MEN GIVE UNTO YOUR BOSOM (Luke 6:38)!!! Abraham gave God his best (Isaac).

SACRIFICIAL GIVING OPENS DOORS OF BREAKTHROUGH AND GREATNESS!!! When Abraham gave the heaven opened unto him and God said to him “In blessing I will bless you, in multiplying I will multiply you” MAY GOD GIVE US UNDERSTANDING. Beloved, many blessings are dependent upon “If you will diligently hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God and do as he has commanded you to do”. In the book of Hebrews the bible tells us that Levi paid tithes in the loins of Abraham. Beloved, when you pay your tithes you are paving the way of blessings for your generations to come. OBEDIENCE IS BETTER THAN SACRIFICE!!! God is great and He wants to make you great. As you obey Him completely, He will make you the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath. Brethren, EXPECT GREAT THINGS FROM GOD. DO NOT LIMIT GOD. Let us pray…

PRAYER

Song: Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my voice. O my God I trust in you let me not be ashamed let not my enemies triumph over me!

Father, we thank you for your word. We give you glory, honor, and all the adoration due to your name! We magnify your Holy name! Father, because you are a great God and I am your child, MAKE ME GREAT! In every area of my life MAKE ME GREAT! Father, you said I shall never be ashamed. LET ME NOT BE ASHAMED!!! Maritally, ministerially, materially, physically, in my business, in every area of my life LET ME NOT BE ASHAMED!!! Arise for me! I trust in you. My expectation shall not be cut short. MAKE ME GREAT IN MY GENERATION!!! Give me the grace to obey you IMMEDIATELY in every area of my life.
