CAPTAIN OF HOSTS

Bible reference – 2 Kings 1:1-14

Friends, the above referenced bible scripture is the account of how Elijah (a servant of God) called down fire from heaven! The king of the Moabites had sent a captain and fifty men to capture him. He simply sat on top of a hill and boldly decreed that if he was a man of God that fire should come down from heaven and consume them and it did! The king sent another troop to bring him down and the same thing happened; fire fell from heaven consumed them!

It wasn’t surprising that by the time a third troop was sent to bring Elijah down, they had gotten wise: being fully persuaded of the imminent danger that awaited them they fell on their knees before Elijah and besought him, and begged him to spare their lives. They called him “man of God”. Friends, the bible says we are “gods” (Psalm 82:6).

The bible says when the enemy shall come in like a flood, the spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him (Isaiah 59:19). The bible also says the eyes of the Lord runs to and fro throughout the whole earth to show himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is perfect towards him(2 Chron. 16:9). I pray in the mighty name of Jesus that the spirit of the Lord will raise a mighty standard against your enemies and the Consuming fire will consume them!

Friends, the God of Elijah is the greatest captain of all. He is the Captain of the Host of the Lord, Commander, a Consuming Fire, A Flame, The Deliverer. The God of Elijah is a living God. We do not serve a dead God. The God of Elijah is a man of war. He is mighty in battle. He is a mighty warrior. He is Almighty. He is Lord. He is Jehovah Nissi. He is Rabonni (master). He will not suffer thy foot to be moved. He that keepeth thee never sleeps nor slumbers. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). The question is do we have any “Elijahs” in the Body of Christ today? Remain blessed in Jesus’ mighty name!
